Woods Flips SUV, Faces DUI Charge
Tiger Woods, the golf legend with more trophies than most have clubs, got himself arrested again. This time, it’s for suspicion of DUI after flipping his Land Rover on Jupiter Island, Florida. According to Sheriff John Budensiek, Woods was speeding and tried to pass a truck, only to clip its trailer and roll his SUV. The crash left him crawling out of the passenger window, but miraculously, no one was hurt.
The accident happened around 2 p.m. ET, and Woods found himself in cuffs shortly after. He faced charges of misdemeanor DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a test. He spent the mandatory eight hours in jail before making bail, courtesy of Florida’s legal hospitality.
Breathalyzer Clean, But Meds Suspected
Sheriff Budensiek noted that Woods didn’t reek of booze, but investigators thought he was on something else. They conducted several tests, keeping in mind his history of injuries and surgeries. Woods declined a urinalysis, probably thinking it wasn’t his best move legally.
While his breathalyzer test came back clean, the sheriff hinted that meds or drugs might be involved. No substances were found in his SUV, but the skid marks and wreckage on South Beach Road told a story of speed and misjudgment. Lucky for Woods, no cars were coming the other way, or we’d be talking injuries, not just a bruised ego.
Past DUI and the Road Ahead
This isn’t Woods’ first rodeo with DUI allegations. Back in 2017, he was caught napping behind the wheel with a cocktail of painkillers in his system. He pleaded guilty to reckless driving then. Fast forward to 2021, and he was in another high-speed crash in L.A., which left him with serious leg injuries.
Despite the setbacks, Woods isn’t just sitting on his laurels. He’s been busy with the PGA Tour’s future, even if his own playing days have been sporadic. With the Masters looming, Woods was contemplating a return. Whether this latest incident puts a dent in those plans remains to be seen. But knowing Woods, he’ll likely find a way back to the fairway.
